MSCI’s new AI system opens client access to proprietary data
Cloud-based platform allows users to gain index insights via conversational interface
The Asset   26 Feb 2026

MSCI has unveiled an AI connectivity framework that gives clients direct access to its proprietary data, allowing them to ask questions, measure performance, and perform analysis with seamless integration into their existing workstreams.

Clients can access MSCI’s insights via the MSCI ONE cloud-based platform or through leading AI providers, including the MSCI app in OpenAI’s ChatGPT and the MSCI connector in Anthropic’s Claude.

Debuting on this new connectivity framework is MSCI IndexAI Insights, a conversational AI interface designed to transform how clients interact with MSCI index data. The offering brings MSCI’s index data together with advanced large language models to deliver fast, intuitive access to insights. Through conversational interaction, clients can ask plain-language questions about index performance, exposures, constituents, and methodologies and get insights that are grounded directly in MSCI’s proprietary data.

“Today’s announcement marks a key step in our journey to scale AI capabilities across MSCI’s broader solutions set and reflects our commitment to AI-driven innovation that transforms how clients engage with our data and models,” says MSCI chief product officer Alvise Munari. “By building secure connectivity into leading AI services, we are enabling clients to access MSCI insights wherever they work. The launch of IndexAI Insights is the first of a series of AI-enabled offerings that we will build on this foundation.”

MSCI plans to expand this connectivity across additional product areas, including Private Assets, where AI capabilities will help accelerate insights across the investment lifecycle, from due diligence and underwriting to analytics and reporting. Also, the firm will introduce more AI integrations and enhancements designed to give clients greater flexibility in how they access, customize, and apply its proprietary data and models.
